Pakistan will take on the West Indies in two Test matches in Multan

Pakistan and the West Indies began with their  two-test series on Friday morning (January 17) in Multan.

PAK vs WI: Latest news ahead of the series

Pakistan go into the series without star bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi meanwhile Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph will be missing for the visitors. The hosts recalled spin duo Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, who spun Pakistan to victory over England last year. They will be without the services of Saim Ayub, however, who is still recovering from the hamstring injury he picked up against South Africa.

The contest is the last series of this World Test Championship cycle, with neither side in a position to make it through to the final at Lord’s in June. However, both sides will be looking to ensure they don't finish the cycle at the bottom of the table. Pakistan must win the series in order to stay ahead of West Indies and not finish the cycle in last.

Both Tests in the series will take place in Multan, with the first scheduled to take place between January 17 and January 21, and the second set to begin on January 25.
