After taking his maiden Test five-for against Bangladesh, Shahzad missed the England Test series through injury and recently made his domestic comeback. This performance is an encouraging step on his return.
In response, Pakistan lost their captain, Muhammad Hurraira for six, bowled by left-arm pacer Vishwa Fernando. His opening partner Abdul Faseeh was dismissed for 26 in the 20th over by Sahan after putting on a 34-run stand with No.3 batter Ali Zaryab, who finished the day unbeaten on 18 along with Mohammad Suleman (11*). Pakistan went to stumps at 66-2 after batting for 24 overs. The day came to an early closure as only 57.1 overs could be bowled due to bad light.
