The 11 standout players from the second week of action in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup.

1. Hamish Rutherford (Worcestershire)

PLAYER PROFILE

Rutherford’s 126 on a tough wicket gifted his side victory over Northamptonshire and is one of the performances of the tournament so far. Ben Cox’s 29 was the next highest score by a teammate, while Alex Wakely’s 46 was Northants’ best knock.

Had the members taking cover at Lord’s as he savaged Middlesex for 166 – an innings that included nine sixes. It is Sussex’s highest List A score ever and a career best for Wright in the format too.

3. Billy Godleman (Derbyshire)

The batsman is single-handedly dragging his side into play-off contention. A score of 106 brought victory over Leicestershire, while 107* off 62 balls against Yorkshire propelled his side to within one run of victory, securing a crucial draw.

4. James Vince (Hampshire)

PROFILE

Continues to make batting look like child’s play. Vince’s 190 against Gloucestershire is the highest of this year’s competition so far and will fill him with confidence before his final push for ensuring his spot in England’s World Cup squad as a replacement for Alex Hales.

5. Billy Root (Glamorgan)

The England captain’s younger brother is Glamorgan’s player of the season so far. His scores of 113* and 98 gave Glamorgan victory in their two playable games this week.

6. Liam Dawson (Hampshire)

Dawson continues to churn out consistent all-round performances seemingly under the radar. Scores of 73, 1 and a well-worked 108 against Surrey represents a decent output, but with the ball he’s been even better, as figures of 2-32, 2-39 and another 2-39 – all at an economy of less than four runs an over –testify.

7. Dane Vilas (Lancashire)

PROFILE

A disappointing week with the bat but gets in the side for his captaincy and glovework. Vilas marshalled Lancs to three victories in three. Took eight catches behind the stumps too – the best for a keeper this week.

8. Marchant de Lange (Glamorgan)

PROFILE

The South African giant’s seven wickets this week at an average of 14.85 came in only two games. And he’d have more if Glamorgan hadn’t had a match rained off. Solid figures of 4-60 against Surrey combined well with a career-best 58* off 35 balls in the same match.

9. Nathan Sowter (Middlesex)

PROFILE

The Australian-born leggie took eight wickets at an average of 10.63 this week. Figures of 4-37 in the London derby between Middlesex and Surrey was followed by 4-48 against Sussex. He now has 15 wickets in the competition.

10. Mir Hamza (Sussex)

PROFILE

Another man with eight wickets this week, albeit at a worse but still respectable average of 19.88. The left-arm quick has taken invaluable wickets.

11. Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire)

PROFILE

Sublime performances by the young quick have played a big part in Lancashire going unbeaten this week. If 6-37 against Northants wasn’t enough, he then demolished Leicestershire, taking 5-14 off his 10 overs. Mahmood finished the week with 13 wickets at an astonishing average of 7.77.
