Most women's ODI centuries

Hayley Matthews scored her eighth ODI century yesterday (January 19) in the West Indies' first ODI against Bangladesh in Basseterre, taking her to the top of the list of players with the most centuries for West Indies' in the format.

Matthews makes short work of chase

Matthews occupied her normal spot in ODIs at the top of the order. Opening up with Qiana Joseph, the pair made light work in a chase of 199, Deandra Dottin having led the charge for West Indies' with the ball. After a slow start to the powerplay, Matthews got into gear in the sixth over, taking four boundaries off Sanjida Akter Meghla's first over. From there, Matthews reached 50 off 44 balls, keeping West Indies' run rate well above the required rate.

She and Joseph put on 163 runs in just over 25 overs, before Joseph was dismissed by Rabeya Khan for 70. West Indies' required just 36 runs by the point they lost their first wicket, with Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle seeing them home comfortably. The only doubt was whether Matthews would reach three figures before the target was reached. She was on 99 at the end of the 31st over with West Indies needing only four runs to win and Campbelle on strike.

The pair exchanged singles off the first two balls of the over, before Campbelle took another single to bring Matthews on strike with the scores level. Matthews duly finished the game with a four, reaching three figures from her 93rd ball in the middle and finishing unbeaten on 193.
