Simon Doull, speaking on Spotify’s 22 Yarns podcast with Gaurav Kapur, recalled the time Danny Morrison introduced Hollywood actor Gerard Butler as “The Butt Meister” at the toss before a Caribbean Premier League game in 2013.
Butler, who bought an equity stake in the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise that season, joined Morrison at the toss for the semi-final between the Tallawahs and Barbados Tridents at Port of Spain.
Doull, who was on broadcasting duties with Morrison when Butler arrived for the game, was taken aback when Morrison, known for his over-the-top commentary style, came up with a rather bizarre nickname for the actor on air.
“You can’t be that way the whole time, you cannot be Danny Morrison on here (raises hand) all your life or you will burst the foo-foo valve and you will be done by the age of 35,” he said. “He was always a little bit mad [during his playing time], but that’s why we love Danny.”
