In an inter-region match on Saturday (April 26), 18-year-old Hassan Eisakhil scored a spectacular 143 in a lone effort for Amo Region.
Eisakhil is the son of (still active) Afghanistan international Mohammad Nabi, who himself is currently representing Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League.
In the latest round of the Merwais Nika Regional 3-Day Trophy, Eisakhil's Amo Region were put in to bat by Band-e-Amir on day one (April 24). Opening the innings, Eisakhil scored 57 in a 100-run opening stand with Masood Gurbaz before Kamal Khan (105) and Sediqullah Pacha (77) lifted them to 350.
In reply, Band-e-Amir managed 274, off the back of opener Haroon Khan's 109. Kamran Sakhi took 4-59 for Amo, who began their second innings on day two.

This time, Gurbaz was out for a golden duck before Kamal Khan and skipper Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai also departed for zero, and Pacha for four to leave Amo on 31-4. Eisakhil then took on the bowling with Abuzar Safi holding up the other end, making his way to 66 by the end of the day, with Amo 84-4 in 30 overs.
Just under an hour into day three, Eisakhil went past the three-figure mark after hitting Qamar Shams for four and six off consecutive balls. It was his first century in multi-day cricket, coming off 131 balls. His and Safi's partnership ended at 168 runs after the latter was run out for 44, going for a second run.
Eisakhil was on 134 at the time, and departed three overs later for 143 to leave Amo 203-6. They were eventually bowled out for 235 shortly before lunch, setting Band-e-Amir 312 to win in just over two sessions.
Who is Hassan Eisakhil?
This is not the first time Eisakhil has caught the eye with a century. Last year, aged 17, he smashed a 45-ball 150 in the Kabul Premier League – an innings that contained what would have been a world-record 19 sixes, if the league had T20 status.
Eisakhil represented Afghanistan at the U19 World Cup last year, but endured a torrid outing with just 43 runs in four innings. He played two Merwais Nika Trophy matches in May 2024, for Speen Ghar. In December, he was part of the Chitwan Rhinos for the inaugural Nepal Premier League.
This year, he has been in solid form for Amo – the century taking him to third on the run-scoring charts. The 40-year-old Nabi has expressed a desire to stick around long enough to play international cricket with his son, and if the teenager keeps up this level of performance, that day could come sooner rather than later.
