Moeen Ali has been been withdrawn from England’s T20I squad for their three-match series against West Indies with Surrey all-rounder Sam Curran called up as his replacement.
Moeen joins other all-format regulars Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes in missing the T20I series as the England set-up look to manage the workload of key players ahead of what promises to be a busy and hugely important summer.

The trio are all due to appear in the IPL’s 2019 campaign that starts next month before the World Cup and Ashes get underway later in the year. Normally a reliably economic white-ball bowler, Moeen has so far been wicket-less and has gone at eight runs an over in the current ODI series against West Indies.

The younger of the two Curran brothers, Sam, is yet to make his T20I debut but has featured in nine Tests and two ODIs for his country and has earned himself an IPL contract for 2019 with Kings XI Punjab.
