Mayank Agarwal, India’s Test opener, could be in line for his ODI debut, after being named as the replacement for Shikhar Dhawan in India’s ODI series against West Indies.

Mayank replaces Dhawan in the 15-member squad as an opener alongside Rohit Sharma, with KL Rahul also present as an additional opening option.

Dhawan was ruled out of the three-match series, beginning December 15, after hurting his left knee while representing Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The injury had also forced him out of the ongoing T20I series against West Indies.

A BCCI statement said: “The BCCI Medical Team feels that while Dhawan’s stitches are off and his wound is healing gradually, he still needs some more time before he regains full match fitness.”

The three-match series begins with the opening game in Chennai, followed by matches in Visakhapatnam [December 18] and Cuttack [December 22].
