Former West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels has launched a foul-mouthed tirade on social media at England all-rounder Ben Stokes.
Samuels famously saluted Stokes after the England batsman was dismissed in a Test five years ago, while the Englishman later wrote that “Samuels lacks respect” after the West Indian took aim at him in the post-match press conference at the 2016 World T20 final.
Following remarks by Stokes on the TMS podcast – on which he said he wouldn’t wish spending time in isolation on his “worst enemy”, jokingly mentioning Samuels – the 39-year-old responded on Instagram Stories to a screengrab of Stokes’ words.
In a pair of expletive-laden messages, Samuels called Stokes a “b****”, followed by further disparaging remarks.
Samuels’ comments were widely condemned by users on social media.
Stokes is currently playing in the IPL in the UAE and hit a match-winning century in Rajasthan Royals’ eight wicket-win over over Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
