India convincingly won their three-match ODI series against West Indies 3-0, and here’s a look at the player ratings for the home side.
Rohit Sharma: 5/10
78 runs @ 26, HS: 60
The India skipper started off with a fine 60 in the first ODI but struggled for runs thereafter. However his captaincy earns him the extra points. He pulled off some astute bowling changes and got the major calls right in his first ODI series as the full-time skipper.
Ishan Kishan: 5/10
28 runs @ 28, HS: 28
The left-hander only got a chance in the first ODI and did not have the biggest role to play after Rohit made light of the chase of 177.
Shikhar Dhawan: 2/10
10 runs @ 10, HS: 10
The opener missed the first two games and struggled to get going in the third ODI, hitting 10 off 26 balls.
Rishabh Pant: 6/10
85 runs @ 28.33, HS: 56
The wicketkeeper was pushed up to open the innings in the second ODI and scored 18 off 34 balls. He unleashed himself in the last ODI, scoring a quick 56 in 54 balls after the loss of early wickets. He was also impressive with the gloves and collected a total of eight catches in the series.
Virat Kohli: 1/10
26 runs @ 8.66, HS: 18
A forgettable series for the former India skipper. The Chase Master first failed to stay till the end in the first game, scoring an un-Kohli like eight off four and was unlucky to be dismissed for a duck in the third ODI, strangled by Alzarri Joseph down the leg side.
Shreyas Iyer: 8/10
80 runs @ 80, HS: 80
Iyer missed the first two matches but played a fine knock when he came into the side for the third ODI. Walking in to bat at 42-3, the cricketer anchored the innings with a 111-ball 80, forming a 110-run stand with Rishabh Pant.
Suryakumar Yadav: 7/10
104 runs @ 52, HS: 64
The middle-order batter showed that he should not only be considered for the T20I side, scoring important knocks in the first two matches of the series. In the first game, his 34* off 36 balls helped India over the line after they lost quick wickets, while his 64 off 83 in the second game rescued India from 43-3, helping them eventually post 237 on the board.
KL Rahul: 6/10
49 runs @ 49, HS: 49
The batter played just one game in the series and looked well-set for his fifty before an unfortunate run out. He looked fluent in his stay, striking at 102.08 while batting at four, showing that the middle order remains the ideal spot for him in the format.
Deepak Hooda: 7/10
55 runs @ 55, HS: 29
1 wickets @ 24, BBI: 1/24
The debutant gave a good account of himself in the series. His 32-ball 26* in the first ODI showed character as he cut down on any loose strokes to take India home. He made 29 off 25 balls in the second ODI, but should have carried on till the end.
Washington Sundar: 6/10
57 runs @ 28.50, HS: 33
4 wickets @ 18.75, BBI: 3-30
Sundar made India breathe a little easier with the important wicket of Odean Smith in the second ODI. He played crucial cameos with the bat as well to display that he can be a serious all-rounder for the team in the future.
Deepak Chahar: 7/10
38 runs @ 38, HS: 38
2 wickets @ 20.50, BBI: 2-41
He played only the third ODI but showed why he should be more of a regular, starring with both bat and ball. Chahar first scored a run-a-ball 38 after the side had been reduced to 187-6, and then displayed great outswing bowling to pick up two wickets within the spa e of four balls.
Shardul Thakur: 4/10
8 runs @ 8, HS: 8
2 wickets @ 39.50, BBI: 2-41
The all-rounder did not have the best outing with either bat or ball, though his 2-41 in the second ODI helped India gain the upper hand after they posted only 237-9 on the board.
Kuldeep Yadav: 5/10
2 wickets @ 25.50, BBI: 2-51
The left-armer played the third ODI and got the important wicket of Nicholas Pooran, though he did prove expensive on the night.
Mohammed Siraj: 7/10
5 wickets @ 18.60, BBI: 3-29
The RCB bowler troubled batters with his variations and pace, especially in the third ODI, and effortlessly took over the role as the leader of the attack. He was also economical, going at 3.57 an over in the series.
Yuzvendra Chahal: 7/10
5 wickets @ 18.80, BBI: 4-49
The spinner’s four-wicket haul in the first ODI helped bundle out the hosts for 176, with his deceptive skills making life miserable for the West Indies.
Prasidh Krishna: 10/10
9 wickets @ 7.55, BBI: 4-12
It is tough to not give Prasidh Krishna anything but full marks, especially after his spell of 4-12 in nine overs in the second ODI. He carried on his form in the third ODI as well, taking three scalps for just 27 runs in 8.1 overs. He ended the series as India’s most economical bowler, conceding 2.5 runs an over.
