Which teams will participate in the Maharaja Trophy 2024?

Rebranded as the Maharaja trophy in 2022 from the erstwhile Karnataka Premier League, the T20 tournament works on the model of the franchise-based IPL.

The 2024 edition of the Maharaja Trophy will be played between August 15 and September 1. Six teams – Hubli Tigers, Mysore Warriors, Gulbarga Mystics, Bengaluru Blasters, Mangaluru Dragons, and Shivamogga Lions – are vying for the trophy.

Who are the notable retentions ahead of the Maharaja Trophy 2024 auction?

Ahead of the third season, teams have revealed the list of retained players before going into the auction on July 25. Each side is allowed to keep four players from the previous year's squad.

Current titleholders Hubli Tigers have retained captain Manish Pandey, who will enter the competition on the back of a successful IPL campaign with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Pandey is joined by wicketkeeper Shrijith KL and promising all-rounder, Manvanth Kumar along with pace spearhead Vidwath Kaverappa.

Karun Nair, captain and last year’s leading run-scorer, will continue to lead the side for runners-up Mysore Warriors. Among other retained players on their side include all-rounder CA Karthik, the talented S.U. Karthik and explosive all-rounder Manoj Bhandage.

Shivamogga Lions have retained Abhinav Manohar, who fetched a record 15 lakhs in last year's auction.
