The much-awaited Legends League Cricket – consisting of retired players- will step into its second edition. Defending champions India Capitals will lock horns against last-time finalists Bhilwara Kings in the curtain-raiser match at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi to start the proceedings.

The T20 competition will be played between November 18 and December 9. Five Indian cities – Dehradun, Ranchi, Jammu, Vizag and Surat – will host 19 matches, including the qualifiers, knockouts and the final.

In addition to the four participating sides – Indian Capitals, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers, Gujarat Giants – from the last time, two new franchises – Urabanisers Hyderabad and Southern Super Stars- have also joined the fray

India Capitals have retained their title-winning captain, Gautam Gambhir, along with the spin duo of Ashley Nurse and Pravin Tambe. Among the latest additions in 2023, they have opted for the service of Hashim Amla and Kevin Pietersen to strengthen their line-up.

Meanwhile, Bhilwara Kings have held back captain Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Tilakratne Dilshan and the formidable fast-bowling all-rounder Shane Watson from the previous year’s campaign. They have bought 12 new players from the pool of 200 cricketers in the auction.

Among other star attractions, the Australian duo of Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh will participate in the franchise-based league for the first time along with Martin Guptill, who forwent his New Zealand national contract earlier.
