Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has moved up two spots in the ICC's Women's ODI player rankings, slotting in two places behind India star Deepti Sharma who rounds out the top five all-rounders in the format.
ICC women's ODI all-rounder rankings: Athapaththu, Deepti make gains
Despite a disappointing performance in Sri Lanka's recent ODI series against New Zealand - which Athapaththu left the WPL early to participate in - where she returned scores of 9, 11 and 5, the all-rounder has now moved up to seventh in the rankings. She has overtaken White Ferns' former captain Sophie Devine, who is currently taking a break from international cricket, and is now level with Australia prodigy Annabel Sutherland.
Still holding firm at the top of the all-rounder list is Australia spinner Ash Gardner, who has whacked three half-centuries so far in the WPL, where she is captain of Gujarat Giants. Marizanne Kapp and Hayley Matthews make up the next two places in the top three, while Nat Sciver-Brunt sits above Deepti Sharma in fifth, who has moved one place above New Zealand's Amelia Kerr. Ashes hero Alana King rounds out the top 10.
ICC women's ODI batting rankings: Nat Sciver-Brunt overtakes Athapththu
In the batting rankings, the only mover in the top 10 is Sciver-Brunt, who has moved up one place above Athapaththu into third. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt still sits a way out in front on 773 rating points, compared to second-placed Smriti Mandhana who has a 738 rating.
There are no movers in the bowling top 10, but Jess Kerr has moved above both her sister Amelia and South Africa's Ayabonga Khaka into 12th place. The older Kerr took 3-22 in New Zealand's win over Sri Lanka in the final ODI of the series in Nelson, dismissing Vishmi Gunaratne, Athapaththu and Harshitha Samarawickrama.
