Stuart Broad has jumped into the top ten of the ICC Test bowling rankings after taking a five-for against Ireland in the first Test match of the English home summer.
He moves up two places into 10th place. Three England bowlers are now in the top ten ahead of the Ashes series that starts on June 16. James Anderson remains in second place with 850 points, while Ollie Robinson retains seventh position on 777 points.
Broad took five wickets on day one against Ireland at Lord’s, his first five-for in 10 years at the venue and 20th overall. England went on to win the Test match in dominant fashion, bowling Ireland out for 172 before Ollie Pope scored his maiden Test double-hundred to help England declare on 524-4.
Pope has also moved up in the rankings thanks to his efforts at Lord’s. He now sits in 23rd (637 points) on the batting rankings, a 10-place increase from before the match.
Ben Duckett has also moved up after he too scored a big century at Lord’s. His 182 in the first innings means that he now sits in 34th position (602 points) having played six Test matches since his return to England’s Test side.
Some Ireland players were also on the move in the rankings charts, Andy McBrine scored a defiant 86 not out in Ireland’s second innings, forcing England to bat again. He moves up 28 places into the top hundred (283 points), while teammate Mark Adair’s 88 sees him move up 32 places.
While none of the players involved in the ongoing World Test Championship final made moves in the table, there are come significant battles to watch out for in the contest in terms of the points table.
Marnus Labuschagne is the top-ranked Test batter in the world on 915 points, but could lose out to Steve Smith after the contest. Smith sits at third position, 43 points behind Labuschagne.

A strong performance from 11th-ranked Rohit Sharma could see him move into the top 10. Virat Kohli, two places behind his captain, can also make moves if he continues his re-found Test form at The Kia Oval.
There has also been movement in the limited-overs ranking positions after series in the UAE and Sri Lanka. Dhananjaya de Silva has broken into the top ten, moving up three spots to ninth, while Sri Lanka teammate Wanindu Hasaranga has moved down to 10th to accommodate him.
The glorious start to Ibrahim Zadran’s ODI career has helped him moved up 20 spots into 24th on the batting charts (625 points). Brandon King’s 112 and 64 in the West Indies’ victories over the UAE helps him jump 29 places. His teammates Keemo Paul, Odean Smith and Yanick Cariah have also moved up positions.
