Latest ICC rankings

The latest ICC rankings feature a new No.1, and the usual overhaul in both limited-overs formats.

Men’s ODI bowlers

With eight wickets in three matches at 12.62 in three-match series in Australia, Shaheen Shah Afridi regained the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers. Rashid Khan, too, rose to second place as Keshav Maharaj (674) slipped to third.

Haris Rauf, who claimed 10 wickets to win the Player of the Series award, and Naseem Shah both jumped 14 places. Rauf is now 13th, while Naseem is joint 55th.

Men’s ODI batters

Among batters, Babar Azam made 80 runs in the same series while being dismissed only once, and remained in the top place. As a result, Pakistan, who played their first ODIs since the 2023 World Cup, now have both the top-ranked bowler and batter in the format. Among Babar’s teammates, captain Mohammad Rizwan rose from 25th to joint 23rd.

Rashid was playing alongside Azmatullah Omarzai, whose 70 not out in the decider helped Afghanistan win the series against Bangladesh. He rose from 39th to joint 31st. Despite his side’s defeat, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (47 and 76 in his two appearances) went from 34th to joint 23rd, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz broke into the top 10.

Men’s T20I bowlers

Wanindu Hasaranga jumped four places to second spot over the course of the Sri Lanka-New Zealand series, during which Mitchell Santner (13th from 17th), hat-trick hero Lockie Ferguson (15th from 25th), and Matheesha Pathirana (joint 31st from 53rd) all gained considerable ground. Elsewhere, Akeal Hosein rose from fourth to third, Ravi Bishnoi from eighth to seventh, and Jofra Archer from 31st to 21st.

But the biggest gainer of them all was Varun Chakravarthy: despite India’s defeat, his 5-17 helped him jump from 174th to joint 64th.

The England-West Indies series also witnessed the rise of three high-ranked batters, all by one place each: Phil Salt is now second, Jos Buttler sixth, and Nicholas Pooran 10th. Elsewhere, Reeza Hendricks went from 14th to 12th, Tristan Stubbs from 38th to 26th, and Sanju Samson from 66th to 39th.
