India’s opener Smriti Mandhana has reached her career-best T20I rating after scoring three fifties in as many games during the recent series against the West Indies.
Mandhana ended 2024 with 767 runs in 23 T20Is, averaging 42.38. It is the most any batter in women’s T20Is has made in a calendar year, with no other player equalling her tally of eight fifties in a year either.
She finished off the sensational year with three successive T20I fifties in the home series against the West Indies, making 54, 62 and 77 at the DY Patil Stadium.
It has helped her attain a career-best T20I rating of 753 as she moved within four points of top-placed Beth Mooney. She also moved up a place and is now No.2 in the ICC batting charts for T20Is, equalling her career-best position on the charts. Mandhana had last risen to No.2 in 2022.
Hayley Matthews of the West Indies rose two places to enter the third place.
In the T20I bowling list, Deepti Sharma dropped two places, to fourth, with Renuka Thakur also in the top five.
Mandhana is also the second-ranked batter in the ICC ODI charts, making her the only Indian in the top ten of both white-ball formats. India skipper Harmanpreet is at no.12 in T20Is and has risen to tenth place in the 50-over format.
In 12 ODIs thus far, Mandhana has made 727 runs in 2024 at an average of 66.09 along with four hundreds and two fifties. She also played one Test match, scoring 149 runs in her only innings, against South Africa.
The ODI list is led by South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, with Chamari Athapaththu in third place.
