Former New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has jumped to the second spot in the latest ICC Test batting rankings, while Australian Josh Hazlewood has become the No.1 ranked ODI bowler.
While Marnus Labuschagne continues to be the top-ranked Test batter, he now has stiff competition from Williamson, who continues to enjoy a stellar run in 2023. A double-century against Sri Lanka in Wellington, his third triple-digit score this year, has propelled him four places up to No.2 in the Test batting rankings.
Due to Williamson’s promotion, Steve Smith, Joe Root, Babar Azam and Travis Head all dropped one position in the top six.
In the Test bowling rankings, there were no changes in the top 10. Tim Southee moved one spot to 11th, with Stuart Broad moving a place down.
In the ODI rankings, Babar Azam continues to hold the top spot in the batting charts. His teammate Imam-ul-Haq moved one place up to third place, as Quinton de Kock slipped to to fourth. Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, moved up one place to ninth. The rest of the top 10 stays the same.
In the bowling rankings, Hazlewood reclaimed the top spot and Trent Boult moved to second position as Mohammed Siraj dropped to third place after Australia’s 10-wicket win in the second ODI. Interestingly, Hazlewood has not played an ODI since November and has been rested for Australia’s ongoing tour of India, while Trent Boult last played in September.
