The inaugural season of the Lanka T10 will get underway next week on December 11. Here are who the captains are for each of the six sides in the new T10 league.
The tournament will run for nine days, finishing on December 11, with all matches set to be played at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. It will be played in a round-robin format with each side playing each other once before the knockouts. There will be two qualifier matches and an eliminator, before the final is played between the winners of the two qualifiers.
The competition has been launched in partnership with the Abu Dhabi T10 league, which began in 2017. While it was originally set to host its debut season in 2023, financial issues pushed the project back by 12 months.
The six teams set to take part are: Colombo Jaguars, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Titans, Hambantota Bangla Tigers, Kandy Bolts and Nuwara Eliya Kings.
Several high profile overseas players will supplement the major Sri Lanka names set to feature in the tournament. Those include the likes of Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Tymal Mills and Alex Hales, while Sri Lanka internationals Angelo Mathews, Wanindu Hasaranga and Avishka Fernando will also take part.
