The third edition of the Lanka Premier League will start from December 6 and go on till the 23rd. The tournament was initially supposed to be held in August, but had to be postponed due to the economic situation in Sri Lanka. Now back on track, the tournament will feature the usual five teams – Jaffna Kings (who have won the two previous editions), Colombo Stars, Dambulla Giants, Galle Gladiators, and Kandy Falcons. They will be led by – in that order – Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Mendis, and Wanindu Hasaranga. This edition will feature legends like Viv Richards, Wasim Akram, and Sanath Jayasuriya as brand ambassadors.

The teams will play each other in a round-robin league – in other words, each side will play every other side twice. The league stage will continue up to December 19, and will be played across the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium (Hambantota), Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Pallekele, Kandy), and R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

These will be followed by the Playoffs in Premadasa: Qualifier 1 and Eliminator on December 21, Qualifier 2 on December 22, and the final on December 23.
