LPL overseas players

The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League is set to get underway on July 1, two days after the end of the men's T20 World Cup - here is the complete list of overseas players who have signed on for LPL 2024.

LPL 2024: Which are the participating teams?

The five teams participating in the 2024 tournament are Jaffna Kings, Colombo Strikers, B-Love Kandy, Galle Marvels and Dambulla Sixers. The Sixers entered the draft as Dambulla Thunder, but team owner Tamim Rahman's arrest for offences relating to corruption led to a termination of the team's contract with the league.

Sequoia Consultants Inc, a Los Angeles based civil engineering consulting firm then stepped in to take over the franchise, renaming it the Sixers. It is the fifth different name assigned to the Dambulla-based franchise, after Viiking (2020), Giants (2021), Aura (2022-2023) and Thunder (2024).

They topped the league stage last year, with six wins in eight matches before securing qualification to the final by defeating Galle Titans in Qualifier 1. They were joined by third-placed side B-Love Kandy, who won the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 to make it there. Kandy then went on to lift the trophy, chasing 148 in 19.5 overs in the final.

The likes of Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh), Noor Ahmad (Afghanistan) and Mohammad Haris (Pakistan) were among the top overseas players in LPL 2023. At this year's auction, Afghan all-rounder Karim Janat fetched the highest bid for a foreign player, at USD 80,000. South Africa's Rilee Roussow was also a big winner, going home with USD 60,000.
