Kusal Perera was hospitalised after crashing into the advertising hoardings during the third day of the third and final Test against West Indies on Monday, June 25.
It was the 29th over of the second West Indies innings in the day/night Barbados Test, with the home side struggling at 82-9, when Shannon Gabriel, the last man, swung Dilruwan Perera to long-on. Kusal Perera attempted to take the catch but didn’t notice the boards, and even as the ball sailed over for six, his leap made him land awkwardly on his face.

He’s currently being examined by the doctor. Will update further but we hope it’s nothing serious.#WIvSL— Windies Cricket (@windiescricket) June 25, 2018
Perera, 27, immediately clutched his chest and called for assistance, and the players, including Gabriel, rushed to him. An ambulance came on the field and took Perera away to a hospital for scans. Play was halted and dinner was taken.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board later confirmed that Perera was cleared of any serious injury and will come out to bat on the fourth day if necessary.
“He is cleared of any serious injury, but we will have to wait and see, how he will come up tomorrow morning, before making a decision on whether to bat him or not,” said Asanka Gurusinha, the Team Manager on #KJP.
