“I just felt like I couldn’t get out”
Virat Kohli had a standout IPL in the 2016 edition, when he slammed four centuries and close to 1000 runs in the season.
Now, Kohli has said that one of those hundreds – a 50-ball 113 against Kings XI Punjab – was his most fun innings.
“It was against Kings XI in the IPL,” Kohli said in an Instagram live chat with Kevin Pietersen. “It was, I think, a 13-14-over game or a 15 over game, and I got a hundred in 12 overs. That was one of the days where I felt like, ‘Jeez, I’m just connecting everything’, and I just felt like I couldn’t get out. And I’ve never felt like that before. Just to be able to hit and not have that fear of getting out. It was amazing. So that has been my most fun innings.”

It was an utterly dominant performance from Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The captain shared a 147-run opening stand with Chris Gayle to flatten Punjab right at the outset and from there never looked back.
By the time he was dismissed in the 14th over, Kohli had already made 113, and RCB ended up with 211/3 in a 15-over game. Set a revised target of 203 in 14 overs, Punjab were limited to 120-9 as RCB won by 82 runs.

Kohli’s inspiring streak of performances took RCB all the way to the final of the 2016 IPL, before they met their match in Sunrisers Hyderabad, who lifted the IPL trophy for the first time.
