Kent have all but clinched promotion to Division One with an emphatic victory over Glamorgan.

The county moved within a point of mathematically confirming their return to the top-flight for the first time since 2010 and will do so with a game to spare unless Sussex claim maximum batting points and steal an unlikely victory against Warwickshire.

Joe Denly, who is touted as a possible opener for England’s tour of Sri Lanka, and Sean Dickson have both scored three hundreds for Kent this season.

New Zealander Matt Henry has been a real coup for the south-coasters, spearheading their bowling attack with 74 wickets from just ten games at an average of less than 15. Hopefully for Kent, they will be able to retain his services next summer.

Kent’s Zak Crawley took centre-stage against Glamorgan with an outstanding 168, his maiden first-class hundred, before veteran Darren Stevens (5-24) and Henry (4-53) helped to bowl Glamorgan out for 78 to secure an emphatic win.

It was Kent’s tenth victory of the season and Glamorgan’s tenth defeat.
