England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of England’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka and the 2020 Indian Premier League season due to an elbow injury.

Archer missed the last three Tests of England’s 3-1 series win over South Africa due to soreness in his right elbow and was subsequently ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series with the Proteas.

The 24-year-old underwent scans today that confirmed a low-grade stress fracture of the right elbow. He will now work with the ECB medical team with the aim of being fit for England’s first assignment of the summer, a three-match Test series against West Indies starting in June.

Archer will, therefore, miss England’s two World Test Championship matches against Sri Lanka next month and sit out of the 13th edition of the IPL. He had been set to turn out for Rajasthan Royals, the franchise he has represented since 2018.
