England paceman Jofra Archer has taken aim at social media trolls after being subjected to racist abuse online, saying it “isn’t ever acceptable”.
Archer, who played a prominent role in England’s World Cup 2019 triumph, posted a screenshot of someone abusing him on Instagram, saying it “baffles” him how people can behave in such a manner to one another.

“I (have) given a lot of thought about reacting to this, and I hope that no one else has to deal with stuff like this on a regular basis,” he said on an Instagram story. “It isn’t ever acceptable and should be addressed properly in my opinion.
“I will never understand how people feel so freely to say these things to another human being, it baffles me.”
This isn’t the first time Archer has taken to social media to call out racist abuse. In November, when England were in New Zealand, Archer reported abuse directed at him from someone in the crowd in Mount Maunganui.
On that occasion, New Zealand Cricket were quick to issue an apology, and in January, announced that the culprit, a 28-year-old man, had been banned from attending international and domestic games in New Zealand for two years.
