Jofra Archer could be eligible to play for England as early as the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and Ashes series, with the ECB set to change its residency rules, according to reports.
The Sussex all-rounder could play international cricket for his native West Indies now, but has elected to play for England – his father’s country – for whom he is due to become eligible for selection in 2022.

The 23-year-old Barbadian, who represented West Indies at Under 19 level, is part-way through a seven-year residency period. He joined Sussex after being recommended by Chris Jordan and has since competed in both the Indian Premier League and Big Bash League.
According to The Times, the governing body may change its rules to equal the ICC’s four-year residency period, which would make the all-rounder available for selection for his adopted homeland next summer. Twelve members on the ECB board would have to agree in order to sanction the move.
