England’s Test skipper Joe Root has penned a new three-year deal with his beloved Yorkshire.
The 27-year-old was a product of the county’s youth system. In 2014, he captained Yorkshire to what was their first County Championship triumph for 13 years, before defending the title the following year.
“It’s an opportunity to not just perform on the field but to offer as much as I can to the rest of the group,” the England star told Yorkshire’s website.
In 2010, England’s Under-19 side featured Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Joe Root and James Vince.

“I [want to] hand as much experience as I can to the younger guys in particular, and really give them the opportunity to learn if they want it.”

Root will feature for Sydney Thunder in Australia’s domestic T20 competition, the Big Bash League, this winter, before England take on the West Indies in the Caribbean in the New Year.
