James Anderson gave England fans and colleagues a scare when he was hit in the face with a golf ball on Sunday.

England’s all-time leading wicket-taker was playing a round with Stuart Broad, who filmed the incident and posted on his Instagram feed. Broad himself seemed very concerned: “Has it hit ya, has it hurt ya?” he reacted.

Luckily, Broad confirmed that Anderson was “perfectly fine” following the incident.

A) @jimmya9 is perfectly fine. B) ?????????

Having played a shot towards some nearby tree roots, the golf ball ricocheted straight into Anderson’s face, causing the bowler to wheel away in pain.

Don’t worry England fans, it’s unlikely to keep him out of action, but you may spot a shiner on the bowler’s face come the second Test, which commences at Lord’s on Thursday August 9.

This isn’t England’s first golfing mishap. In November 2017, Broad himself was struck by a golf ball while at the Brisbane Golf Club. Maybe give it up, lads?
