Ben Stokes’ tenure as England’s men’s Test captain has begun in spectacular style, but there are still some out there who doubt whether or not this new regime is going to be sustainable in the long run.

While we’re only four Tests in, there is still insight to be drawn from what we have seen thus far from England’s cricket team while under Stokes’ leadership.
England’s victory over New Zealand shows that this new regime has potential, and while basing your whole opinion of a team’s skill around a few performances is never advised, it can certainly give some form of idea of what we might be seeing from the team in the future.

More Time Is Needed To Round Of The Edges
However promising England’s Test team is looking, it’s still worthwhile to be slightly sceptical. To play devil’s advocate, there are still a few problems that they are going to have to overcome if they want a shot at becoming one of the best in all formats.
England have their weaknesses that will need addressing before we can say with full confidence that they have an exceptional side, and only time will tell whether or not Stokes and the rest will be able to rectify said issues.
All-in-all, it’s just too soon to say what Stokes’ overall impact as captain will be. Things might be heading in the right direction, but we have not had enough time to see any weaknesses expose themselves and to see how England react to defeat.
Only time will tell what’s going to happen to the England cricket team whilst under new leadership, but one thing is for certain; it’s going to be a spectacle to watch.
