Irani Cup 2024: Team news
Mumbai have announced a formidable squad captained by Ajinkya Rahane, with Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan among the key inclusions. Shardul Thakur has returned after undergoing foot surgery in June. Musheer Khan will miss the match after being involved in a road accident.
The ROI squad will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad with Abhimanyu Easwaran as his deputy. Both Gaikwad and Easwaran were part of the recently-concluded Duleep Trophy. Gaikwad captained runners-up India C, while the season's second-highest run-scorer Easwaran led India B.
Ishan Kishan, who lost his BCCI central contract last year, has been added to the team after his centuries in the Buchi Babu tournament and the Duleep Trophy on red-ball comeback. The team also has a wicketkeeping backup in Dhruv Jurel. Yash Dayal, who recently earned his maiden India call-up for India’s Test series against Bangladesh also features in the side.
