The schedule for the first two weeks of IPL 2019 has been released, with the tournament set to begin on March 23.

The fixtures remain subject to the announcement of dates regarding India’s general election.

A statement from the IPL website said: “This [the schedule] is still subject to the announcement of Lok Sabha 2019 election dates. Once the election dates are released we will address any issues with the first two weeks and also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.”

The opening two weeks will see 17 matches played, with reigning champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening fixture.
