The last time these two sides met in the 50-over format was back in March 2022 in Hamilton during the World Cup. They played each other recently in the T20 format during the T20 World Cup in a group stage match, which New Zealand won by 58 runs before the White Ferns went on to win the tournament, their first world title in the format.
The last time India and New Zealand met in an ODI in India was in 2015, when they played a five-match ODI series in June-July in Bengaluru.

India announced their squad for the series on October 17, with Harmanpreet Kaur retained as skipper despite speculation that she might have been replaced following the side's group stage exit from the T20 World Cup.
World Cup squad members Asha Sobhana (injury), Pooja Vastrakar (rest) and Richa Ghosh (educational commitments) will not be part of the series. For the full squad list, click here.
For New Zealand, seam bowler Rosemary Mair, who impressed at the World Cup, has been rested as part of her workload management programme. Leigh Kasperek has also been left out, with uncapped wicketkeeper Polly Inglis receiving a maiden call-up.
