Arguably the greatest rivalry in women’s cricket resumes as India host Australia for five T20Is, all of them in Greater Mumbai.

Australia currently hold the 50- and 2o-over world titles as well as having won the Commonwealth Games. In 2020, they beat India in the T20 final in Melbourne. Similarly, earlier this year, Australia defeated India in the Commonwealth Games final in Birmingham.

This series will see the first two matches played at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai before the tour moves west to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

A surprising omission for the Australian team was that of legspinner Amanda-Jade Wellington missing out on selection with Alana King, Jess Jonassen and Ashleigh Gardner being chosen as the preferred spinners.

Meanwhile, allrounders Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana went unselected for India whilst there was a maiden call-up for left-arm seamer Anjali Sarvani.

The series will act as a warm-up for the T20 Women’s World Cup that takes places in South Africa in February.
