The BCCI named their squads for both the Test and ODI matches in the Caribbean yesterday (June 24), with a few headline changes. They have dropped Cheteshwar Pujara from the Test squad following the WTC final, while Ajinkya Rahane has regained the vice-captaincy. Rahane was recalled to the Test match side against Australia at The Oval following almost a year out of the team.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been named in both squads. He has yet to make his Test match debut and last played white-ball cricket for India in 2022. Jaydev Unadkat and Sanju Samson have also been included in India’s ODI squad.
The series will begin with two Test matches, at Windsor Park in Roseau and at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. The West Indies have not won a Test match against India since their home series of 2002.
Two ODIs will follow at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown before the series moves to Tarouba. The final ODI will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy which will also host the first T20I of five.
