India will tour Bangladesh for three ODIs, on December 4, 7, and 10, and two Test matches, from December 14 and 22. Ahead of the tour, an India A team will be touring Bangladesh as well, for two unofficial ‘Tests’, to be played from November 29 to December 2 in Cox’s Bazar and from December 6 to 9 in Sylhet. The BCCI have adopted this ‘shadow tour’ practice of sending an India A side just ahead of or alongside an India team to the same country for some time.
Led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, India A team largely features fringe cricketers. Of the squad for the first match, only Navdeep Saini and Jayant Yadav have prior Test cricket experience. For the second ‘Test’, they will be joined by the seniors, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and KS Bharat, none of whom features in India’s ODI squad.
Bangladesh A, on the other hand, have as many as eight Test cricketers in their XI (including former Test captain Mominul Haque) for the first match. They will be led by Mohammad Mithun.
