India A are touring Bangladesh for two unofficial ‘Tests’, from November 29 in Cox’s Bazar and December 6, 2022 in Sylhet. The tour is in part of the ‘shadow tour’ practice adopted by the BCCI for some time. As part of the plan, an India A team typically tours a country ahead of (or during) the main team’s tour in the same country, especially for Test matches.India will tour Bangladesh next month, for three ODIs, on December 4, 7, and 10, and two Test matches, from December 14 and 22. As is evident, the second unofficial ‘Test’ will coincide with the first official ODI.Bangladesh are yet to announce squad for the Test series. However, for the first ‘Test’ match, they have included the likes of eight Test cricketers – former Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun (who will lead Bangladesh A), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mosaddek Hossain, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, and Khaled Ahmed. These matches are likely to serve as trials ahead of the Test series.The Indian team for the first match, on the other hand, features only two Test cricketers, in Jayant Yadav and Navdeep Saini. Ahead of the second ‘Test’, they will be joined by senior professionals like Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and KS Bharat, who will use the opportunity to get match practice ahead of the Test series.
