Though India and Sri Lanka have met each other on a number of occasions in the 21st century, this is only the fourth time that Sri Lanka are touring India to play Tests since 2000. India won the Test series 2-0 in 2005/06, the result was repeated in 2009/10, while they won 1-0 in 2017/18.

Sri Lanka have never won a Test in India, a record which they will seek to correct on this tour. This will not be an easy task given their recent form, and squad strength. While India are missing a number of senior players, Dimuth Karunaratne’s side will have to be at their very best to challenge the hosts.

The tourists are coming off a 1-4 series loss against Australia and would do well to regroup quickly for a challenging T20I series which begins on February 24 in Lucknow. India will be led by Rohit Sharma in T20Is as well as Tests.
