Watch: Ishan Kishan was left flummoxed by an in-dipping slower yorker from Lungi Ngidi during the rain-ravaged T20I between India and South Africa in Bengaluru.
Kishan, the highest run-scorer from either side in the series, looked on course to convert his blazing start into a substantial score before Ngidi intervened off the final delivery of the second over. Up until then, he’d scored 15 off six deliveries, hitting back-to-back sixes off Keshav Maharaj in the opening over.
With 16 runs off the first over, it looked like the opening partnership will sail through the powerplay, but Ngidi had other plans. Off the final ball of the second over, he slipped in a cunning slower one: the in-dipping yorker crept past Pant’s bat, the lack of pace beating him, and went on to uproot the off-stump.
The dismissal was a brief highlight in the rain-affected T20I – only 3.3 overs could be bowled, as persistent rain didn’t allow for the action to resume. The series remained shared at 2-2.
