Green was one of the two unbeaten Australia batters at the end of day three, giving Marnus Labuschagne company as they looked to take the game further away from India.

Early on the third day, Labuschagne was sent back by Umesh Yadav, but Green found company in Alex Carey to push the lead beyond 300. At the end of the 64th over, Ravindra Jadeja gave India their second breakthrough of the day, and it came via a rather bizarre dismissal of Green.

Looking to pad the ball away, Green stood motionless as the ball turned past the extended leg and onto his glove, before bouncing right into the stumps. Green took a moment to assess what had happened before walking away, with the India players rejoicing in the background.

With rough patches developing on the surface, a sweep may have been a better option, but Green decided to go defensive. It didn’t quite work out well eventually. Australia, though, continued thereafter, the lead reaching 374.
