On Wednesday, India U19 completed a crushing victory over Australia U19 in the second Youth Test between the sides in Chennai.

In an astonishing day's play, India managed to secure a clean sweep in the two-match series, in stark contrast to their previous win.

After winning the first match by two wickets, India elected to bat first at the same venue on day one (October 7). Wicketkeeper Harvansh Singh's century (117) helped them to 492, along with half-centuries from four others – Nitya Pandya (94), Karthikeya KP (71), Soham Patwardhan (63) and Nikhil (61). In reply, Australia made it to 142-3 by the end of day two, captain Ollie Peake leading the way with an unbeaten 62.

But if the teams appeared to be on an equal footing, the match moved ahead quickly on day three, coming to a swift conclusion as it turned out.

Off-spinner Anmoljeet Singh dislodged Alex Lee Young to break Australia's fourth-wicket stand of 166. The slide from there was steep, as Christian Howe came and went before Peake, having scored a century, also fell to Anmoljeet for 117. The last five wickets then went down for 33 runs as the visitors were bowled out for 277, and India enforced the follow-on.

Australia's second innings saw them reduced to 41-3, almost identical to their 42-3 in the first innings. But there was no middle-order recovery here. They lost four wickets for four runs, slipping from 45-3 to 49-7 as spin twins Anmoljeet and Mohamed Enaan wreaked havoc.

It wasn't long before Australia were 73-9. No.11 Harry Hoekstra struck two fours and a six to contribute 21 to a last-wicket partnership of 22, but he only delayed the inevitable as Lachlan Ranaldo became Anmoljeet's fifth victim of the innings, sealing an Indian win by an innings and 120 runs.
