Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, opened up about making mistakes on his previous tours to Australia, but also spoke about realising and correcting them over the years, of his own accord.
“I didn’t have a good understanding of where to draw the line and stuff like that…,” Kohli told Fox Sports.
“Those are things that I, I wouldn’t say I regret, but definitely I look at them as mistakes. But mistakes that were important for me to commit so I can learn from them.”

The 30-year-old, who flipped the bird at a vocal SCG crowd back in 2012, says he is “massively different” now than he was back then.

“One thing is that I’ve always been myself. I’ve never tried to be someone else because of the opinion,” he said.
“I learn from my own mistakes, I realise my own mistakes myself, and just kept correcting them through the journey. But (I’m) massively different from the last two tours, especially the first one. I was so bad.”

“I was never a perfect mould of typical, old school cricketer,” he added.

Kohli is currently leading India in the first of four Tests against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, where his team have worked themselves into a strong position.
