Against Japan in the 2024 U19 Asia Cup, Mohammad Amaan smashed the joint second-highest score by an India captain in an Under-19 ODI. Here’s the full list of the highest U19 ODI scores by an India skipper.
After losing their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan, India made a strong comeback, riding on their captain Amaan's unbeaten century. Amaan's 122 not out at No.4 with support from opener Ayush Mhatre's 29-ball 54 and Karthikeya KP's 57 off 49 helped India rack up a massive score after being asked to bat first. Hardik Raj, coming in at eight, smashed a 12-ball 25 not out to provide late impetus to the innings, taking the batting side to 339-6.
In response, Japan could only manage 128-8 off their full quota of overs. Opener Hugo Kelly top-scored with 50, albeit off 111 balls. Chetan Sharma, Raj, and Karthikeya took two wickets each, while Yudhajit Guha finished with a measly spell of 1-9 spanning seven overs, including three maidens. India won by 211 runs and the margin of victory provided them a much-needed net run-rate boost along with the crucial two points.

Top 10 highest U19 ODI scores by India captains, full list
Amaan's 122 not out is the joint-second highest Under-19 score by an Indian captain alongside Unmukt Chand, whose name features on the list as many as five times. Notably, Chand's knock against Sri Lanka in 2011 came off 91 balls as compared to Amaan, who batted for 118 deliveries during his record innings against Japan in the 2024 U19 Asia Cup.
The list is headed by Vijay Zol's 128 off 131 against New Zealand in Darwin in 2013. Zol is only the second player after Chand to find his name twice in the top ten. His 103 against South Africa in 2013 is ranked tenth.
