At the Sylhet International Stadium on January 13, 2025, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Litton Das set a new world record partnership in men’s franchise T20 cricket.
Dhaka Capital openers Tanzid (108 in 64 balls, six fours, eight sixes) and Litton (125 not out in 55, 10 fours, nine sixes) put on an opening stand of 241 in 19.3 overs against Durbar Rajshahi in a BPL 2025 match at the Sylhet International Stadium. Dhaka eventually finished on 254-1 and bowled out Rajshahi for 105.
This is a world record partnership for any wicket in franchise cricket. Tanzid and Litton went past the 229 put on by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers for the second wicket for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Bengaluru) against the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL.
In all men’s T20 matches, the record still lies with the Japanese openers Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming and Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake, who batted through the 20 overs to put up an unbroken 258 against China in the 2024 East Asia Cup.
Before the Tanzid-Litton stand, the highest partnership in the BPL was for the second wicket, between Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum of the Rangpur Riders against the Dhaka Dynamites, back in 2017.
