In the CSA Provincial One-Day Cup on Sunday (March 2), the Titans recorded a mammoth 440-5 in just 43 overs, coming agonisingly close to a national record.
In the fifth round of the 2024-25 season, the Titans were sent in to bat at Centurion, in a match reduced to 43 overs a side thanks to rain. Openers Rivaldo Moonsamy and Lhuan-dre Pretorius made a steady start, scoring 56-0 in the nine-over Powerplay.
Pretorius scores record-quick hundred
With all 10 wickets still intact, the pair began to accelerate, scoring another 64 runs in the next seven overs. Pretorius then took on South African international Senuran Muthusamy, hitting him for five sixes in an over. The 18-year-old went on to complete a 61-ball century, the fastest-ever for the Titans. By the time he was dismissed, the Titans had already reached 227 in 23.1 overs.
Dewald Brevis joined Moonsamy at the crease, as the opener continued to score at pace, also completing his century – eventually departing for 126 off 83 balls to leave his side 290-2 in 29.1 overs.

What's the highest List A team total in South Africa?
Brevis then laced six fours and six sixes on his way to 75 off 44 balls, before Neil Brand (52* off 34) and Sibonelo Makhanya (46* off 22) provided the finishing touches to take them to 440-5 in their allotted 43 overs – scoring at 10.23 runs per over.
They fell 13 runs short of the highest List A total in South Africa, their own 453-3 against North West at the same venue in March 2022. Brand was also part of that lineup, scoring an unbeaten 115 off 75 balls. Proteas batters Theunis de Bruyn and Heinrich Klaasen scored 179 (115) and 53* (20) respectively in that innings.
The record for highest List A total remains with Tamil Nadu, who scored 506-2 against Arunachal Pradesh in November 2022. They are the only team to score at over 10 runs an over for 50 overs in a List A game.
