Pakistan quick Hasan Ali has been ruled out of Lanka Premier League 2023 due to a finger injury and has subsequently undergone surgery.
The right-arm speedster injured his finger while playing in Qualifier 1 for Dambulla Aura in the ongoing LPL. The blow came in the final over of the innings, bowled by Hasan. On the third ball of the over, he attempted to stop a firmly-hit straight drive, but only succeeded in getting a deflection of the top of his finger and received on-field medical attention. He returned to bowl the last three balls of the over, conceding one run and taking a wicket, and did not bat as his side secured a six-wicket win over Galle Titans with two balls to spare to qualify for the final.
The following day (August 18), the quick penned a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), breaking the news of his injury and the subsequent surgery. He clarified that he would no longer feature in the current edition of the LPL and requested fans to pray for his speedy recovery.
“Saddened to share that I suffered a finger injury during our qualifier yesterday and had to go through a surgery for it. A pretty unfortunate end to a great tournament for me personally however will like to look at the positives and thank my team management and medical staff for looking after me. Big thank you to all the fans for supporting me and would now request you all to pray for my recovery,” Ali wrote on X.
