Essex have announced that they will bring two of their 2019 County Championship fixtures forward, with their home matches against Hampshire and Somerset moved from Monday to Sunday starts.
This change was made after the members and fans of the club requested more games to be played on the weekend. Surrey announced that they had brought their fixture against Warwickshire forward by a day to start on a Sunday earlier this week.

Hence, after consulting with the ECB and other clubs participating in the Championship, Essex rescheduled the two fixtures to accommodate more weekend action in their campaign.

“After exploring all possibilities in a busy fixture schedule and taking into account other outside influences such as the ICC Cricket World Cup and team logistics, two matches have been rescheduled to start on Sundays,” reads a statement on Essex’s website.
“This will create two further days of weekend cricket with the games against Hampshire and Somerset now beginning on Sunday June 16 and Sunday June 23, respectively.”
