“We want to do as much as we can to try and keep things going”
England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan is open to the possibility of his white-ball side playing at the same time as the Test team this summer should a truncated season take place.
No professional cricket is to be played in England and Wales before May 28 due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the ECB modelling options to start the season in June, July or August.
Speaking on Tuesday, ECB chief executive Tom Harrison admitted to the prospect of England fielding two sides on the same day if the season does begin, with the governing body continuing to assess its options amidst the ongoing financial fallout.

Asked on Wednesday whether players would back such a move, Morgan showed willingness to such an idea.
“I see every option being viable during this extraordinary time,” Morgan said. “I’ve never experienced anything like this, I don’t think anyone else has. I think the serious nature of the impact economically and financially for the game is something we’ve never come across.

“Certainly from a players’ point of view, we want to do as much as we can to try and keep things going. If there’s an opportunity to play as much cricket as we can, I’d like to think that every player is behind that – I certainly am. But obviously times are still uncertain at the moment. There’s information coming out daily, weekly and I suppose the most important information is yet to come.”
