The traveling New Zealand team arrived in England on May 17, ahead of the first Test on June 2. The New Zealand side named a 20-man contingent for the two-Test series and the World Test Championship final that follows.
The New Zealand side is expected to play a three-day intra-squad game beginning May 26 at the Ageas Bowl. Trent Boult, the New Zealand quick, is likely to miss at least the first Test but is expected to be available for the WTC final. The side includes the uncapped duo of Rachin Ravindran and Jacob Duffy, while Doug Bracewell, who hasn’t played a Test since 2016, earns a recall.
England announced a 15-man unit for the Test series, which begins on June 2 with the first Test, including uncapped James Bracey and Ollie Robinson in the squad. Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, and Jonny Bairstow, all of whom featured in IPL 2021, have been rested. With no Buttler, Ben Foakes is set to be the first-choice wicketkeeper in the team.
