After a triumphant Test outing where England came from 1-0 down to beat the West Indies 2-1, attention now turns to England’s white-ball squad. This will be hosts’ first home series in the format since they lifted their maiden 50-over title at the 2019 World Cup.
With eight wins in nine completed fixtures, it’s fair to say England have had the better over Ireland at ODIs in recent years. Their only defeat against the men in green came during the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup in Bengaluru, India.
England have picked a strong side despite choosing not to transfer Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jos Buttler away from the Test side. It means there are places for James Vince, Tom Curran and Sam Billings, while David Willey returns for the first time since missing out on England’s World Cup squad.
In Buttler’s absence, Moeen Ali will act as Eoin Morgan’s vice-captain. Joe Denly and Saqib Mahmood, who were both dropped from England’s red ball side, are named in Morgan’s squad.

Promising South African-born youngster Curtis Campher has earned his first Ireland call up and his joined by Harry Tector, also yet to make his ODI debut, who struck 55 against the England Lions last Sunday.
