To prepare for the 2024 ICC Men’s U19 World Cup, Ireland Under-19s are raring to lock horns against their English counterparts in two ODIs, on August 21 and 23. Haslegrave Ground in Loughborough, Leicestershire will host the white-ball series.
England Young Lions (Under-19s) have named a 16-member squad. The same squad will also feature in the upcoming Under-19 ODIs against Australia as well. Durham batter Ben McKinney, who had led the white-ball team in Australia earlier this year, has been entrusted with the leadership role.
Young Lions head coach Michael Yardy is excited about the upcoming series: “It’s an exciting six months for the Young Lions starting with a home series against Australia followed by a tour to India and a World Cup in January.
“We toured Australia last winter and it is great to be able for us to compete with them again this summer. There are several new faces in this squad which will add to that excitement in having the opportunity to play against their peers from down under.”
Meanwhile, Railway Union’s Philippe le Roux will lead the 14-member Irish side.
